Day 8:
Moments
“Don’t spit on me and tell me it’s raining”
With the final song on the record, I confess. This album is an ode to the past, a nostalgic love letter to all that built me. But there’s more to our past than the rose-colored, softly grainy home movie suggests. If our memories looked that pretty we’d stay there all the time. But life is far more complex. Some songs remind us of negative experiences we’ve been through. Some songs we associate with positive experiences with people who are no longer in our lives. I’ve found that the past memories that have kept me up the most at night are not necessarily what’s happened to me, but getting stuck on moments where I feel I’ve fallen short.
—
My mistakes and imperfections I have never been comfortable with. But I wrote this song to give some grace. So what I ask at the end of this time travel journey through the past, is that you be kind to your memories, knowing you can’t change them. Cherish the good, stare into the bad till the fear subsides, then swim back up to the present. Enjoy the gifts of the present, plant both feet in these future memories.

Studio Bts
Here’s today’s bit of a behind the scenes from the recording sessions at Plyrz Studios.
“Moments”
Honey, you got me losing my head
Honey, you got me rambling
The lady in the water keeps calling you to the deep
Tell me if you ain’t fallin, why can’t you stay on your feet?
Baby, what you doing to me?
Cause I get angry and it burns me up inside
I get angry and I wanna run and hide
I have moments, moments, moments
Then I’m fine
Honey, you got me losing my head
Honey, you got me trembling
So don’t spit on me and tell me it’s raining
Your voice it shakes when I know that you’re telling me lies
Baby, I won’t think twice
Cause I get crazy sometimes
I get crazy, outta my mind
I have moments, moments, moments
Then I’m fine
So I howl and scream and cry like a kid
And I make a scene and I have a fit
Oh, darling, just tell me you won’t quit
Oh if I get stupid sometimes
I get stupid, and I get blind
I have moments, moments, moments
Yeah, I have moments, moments, moments
But otherwise I’m divine
